Tractive DOG 6 GPS Tracker

Single-product review

Our notes

The Tractive DOG 6 is designed to give owners an additional way of keeping track of their dog on walks, particularly when exercising off lead or exploring unfamiliar areas. Unlike a simple Bluetooth tag, it uses GPS and mobile-network connectivity to send location information to the Tractive app, allowing live tracking over much greater distances where supported mobile coverage is available.

At 39g, the standard DOG 6 is intended for dogs over 4kg and is considerably smaller than Tractive’s XL models. Tractive lists battery life of up to 14 days when Power Saving Zones are used, or up to around six days without them. It is also rated IP68 waterproof.

One of the most important things to factor in is the ongoing cost. The tracker itself is currently £59, but it requires a Tractive subscription because the built-in SIM uses mobile networks to transmit location data. Tractive currently advertises plans from £4 per month, with the actual cost depending on the subscription tier and how long you commit for.

We haven’t personally tested the DOG 6 yet, so this entry is based on Tractive’s published specifications and service information rather than first-hand experience.
