Commercial transparency

Commercial links should never be hidden.

BandiBoo Walks may use affiliate links on relevant Gear pages and contextual product recommendations. If a purchase can earn BandiBoo Walks a commission, that relationship should be clearly labelled before or alongside the link.

Affiliate status does not turn a product into an editorial recommendation. Products should still be selected because they are relevant to the walking scenario or article.

01

Affiliate link

A retailer link may pay BandiBoo Walks a commission if you make a qualifying purchase. There should be no extra cost to you because you followed the link.

02

Sponsored link/content

Where money, gifting or another commercial arrangement materially affects a placement, the relationship should be labelled as sponsored or otherwise commercially relevant.

03

Standard retailer link

Not every retailer link is an affiliate link. Standard links can be included simply because they help a reader find the product or retailer being discussed.

Editorial independence

Usefulness comes before commission.

Route guidance, safety information and dog-suitability advice should not be changed to create an affiliate opportunity. Product modules belong where they answer a genuine walking need, such as hydration, drying, lead control or route-specific kit.

BandiBoo Walks does not need to place a commercial product in every article or on every Walk page.

How Gear evidence is labelled

Research-based is not the same as field-tested.

R

Research-basedAssessed through documented research and comparison. The product should not be described as personally tested.

F

Field-testedUsed in practice with a testing methodology recorded on the Gear entry.

M

Mixed evidenceCombines hands-on use with research or covers multiple products with different evidence levels.

Ratings & prices

Scores need a documented basis. Prices can change.

A numerical product rating is only appropriate when BandiBoo Walks has a documented editorial basis for that score. Research-based recommendations can be useful without inventing a number.

Retail prices are volatile. Gear pages can show when a price was last checked, but the retailer remains the source of the current purchase price.

Questions or commercial enquiries

Transparency should be easy to challenge.

If a commercial label appears unclear, or you have a relevant Gear or partnership enquiry, use the Contact page and provide the product or page involved.
